God wants us to prosper and improve our lives. It is right to pray for our country, our rulers and our cities so that they may be peaceful. God is in control of all things and He can make a big difference in the fortunes and peace of a place and of a people.

Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives.
1 Timothy 2:1,2 (NIV)

Let us pray for the prosperity of the place where we are so that we may prosper, and of course, others too.
